Ludwig Schröder was founded 1919 in Swakopmund, Namibia, as a retailer trading with colonial goods. In 1924, Ludwig opened the first travel agency in Swakopmund. In 1944, the business expanded to include real estate and insurance. In 1962, his son, Berthold Schröder, took over the business and added property management, development and administration of body corporates as well as property valuations to the existing portfolio.

In 2000, Berthold Schröder’s daughter, Anja, joined the business and actively heads up the team of estate agents. The Schröder family is one of the few families in Swakopmund whose business is still family run to this day.
